I know I’ve written a blog before about how klutzy I am.  I don’t like to think of myself that way but things just keep happening.  Ah the frustration of injury.  While we were in Bandin helping to clear land I became injured again.  Not too much though.  Apparently my feet do not like the steps leading up (and obviously down) to the houses we are living in.  Not once but twice I feel on the steps, just not catching the steps right or something like that.  The first time I just bruised my shin up.  A few days later, while being very cautious, I managed  to slip on the middle step hit my shin and almost go flying foward a few feet, but somehow managed to just land on that middle step hitting the heel on one foot pretty hard.  One of those incidents that looking back, I should have gone forward but the hand of God stopped me. Leaving me with a very bruised shin, an painful and bruised foot, a hurt butt, and maybe even a little bit of hurt pride and frustration.Wish I knew why I kept falling and things happening to me physically.  Could be one of the ways I get attacked by the enemy. Thoughts on this anyone???

Anyway, immediately after that happened Rapee came running down the stairs, having heard me fall, grabbed some ice to put on my shin and insisted that I not continue to work the rest of the afternoon.  Trying not to upset her(She was pretty adamant) I finally agreed to rest in the afternoon.  For those of you who know me and even those who don’t, I hate letting injury stop me from doing anything.  I find it very frustrating and the stubborness and independance in me tends to come out even more.  I think its because I’ve dealt with this all of my life.  dealing with minor and not so minor injuries. I would never do anything if I let the fear of getting hurt stop me!!  So I continue to deal with the frustrations and even let it get me down at times.

I rested that afternoon, spent time with the Lord, and talked to Stephanie (who had stayed back to pray).  The next day, not really feeling up to it but really wanting to go, we went for a nice all day hike to a cave that Ray (our contact) knew about.

hill country up north!

We hiked through rice patties

Had lunch by the river (some ate up in the bamboo house the boys stayed in for the night)  Also a chance to rest my feet and soak them in the nice cold river

And got to enjoy the view from the cave-where locals have seen 3 anacondas recently

So even though the day before had been not so fun and even though I was in pain during the hike, it was well worth being stubborn.  Going hiking even though I probably shouldn’t have. It was a gorgeous day that I was able to spend with my teamates, enjoying the Lords creation and sharing the commitment to God with Rusty.
