A few days ago, my team was asked if we would be willing to go to Nelspruit, South Africa for at least a week to scout out some connections.  Right before we left I got an email from one of the world racers already in South Africa(SA). In that email it said that the postal workers in SA were on strike.  ok no big deal right.  I don’t need to mail anything home for the next few weeks anyway.
On Monday Nessa headed to Nelspruit and found out that not only were the postal workers on strike, but also all other government workers, bus drivers, doctors, paramedics, and nurses.  From what we have heard there has been pretty much no or little medical care. People are leaving the hospital when they shouldn’t be.  Or having to stay there and recieving little medical treatment.

Today we had the opportunity to go to the hospital near where we are staying with Pastor Suprise (a pastor that works with Iris Ministries) and a group of pastors here for a week to study.  We were going to the hospital to pray over the people in the wards.  We split up into two large groups to head to different wards. As my group walked the wards and prayed, they seemed almost empty. Most of the wards we visited had maybe 10-15 patients.  At least half of the beds were empty, if not more. I pray that it is because people have become well enough to go home, not that they didn’t have the medical care that was needed.  We did see a few nurses and nursing students who were all out of uniform.  We found out later that the nurses were trading out coming into the wards in their plain clothes to take care of the patient. They are posing as visitors, instead of medical staff.

Please be in prayer for the people here.
