We have been in training in

Palenque for the past week.
Most of the afternoons have been set aside for ministry time and we as a team are to pray and go where we feel the Lord leading us.
Yesterday we decided to head into

Palenque and see where we felt lead.
We head down the dirt road from Shekinah (the bible institute we are staying at), praying as we went that the Lord show us opportunities.
All of a sudden, as we walk past a house along the road, Stephanie stops to talk to one of the guys there, Angel.
We had walked past them the day before and they were carrying long reeds/wood of some sort which they were going to use to make furniture.
She starts asking them what they are doing (its great that she can speak Spanish) and he tells her that he is making furniture.
Then he invites us up to his porch to look at some completed pieces.

We head up the steps to the porch and see a little girl, Dulce, sitting there doing her homework.
Angel’s son Luis Angel is there as well.
Angel starts talking and tells us a little bit about his furniture and his life.
He was a rancher for 20 + years and was over large amounts of cattle, and he began to work more and more, even having to work on Sundays.
He was over worked at that point and decided he would rather be his own boss.
He found some furniture on the internet and decided to try his hand making it.
It’s the furniture that he makes now.
He sells to locals, hotels, and restaurants.
Stephanie asked him how much he sold them for and he sells a couch, two chairs, and a table for three hundred American dollars.
Angel seemed so joyful in what he does and he is very proud of his craft.

We were also able to meet some more of his family.
His daughter Vicki, is 18, a lady named Amalie (not sure if she is his wife or another relative), three children, that I think are his nieces and nephews, Arturo is 12, Javier is 11, and Dulce is 8.
There was also another girl about 8-9 that came up right before we left.
We were able to talk to the family or awhile, I think we stayed 30-45 minutes.
Angel also invited us to come back today to see him complete on of his chairs.

I’m excited to go back and see him at his craft and also to spend more time with this family.
