Vilanculos, Mozambique!  We were greeted by our contact there, Jaco (Jacob) Rudolf.   He drove us down the roughest pothole road in the world.  Never been on a road when it was absolutely essential to use the handles above so your head doesn’t smack the roof.  We arrived at his beautiful home made of reeds and met his family.

God provided a translator the day we came in.  It was perfect!

The next day…Off to the bush!  We had no clue where we would stay, so Jaco stopped a random guy on a motorcycle and asked how we could talk with The Chief.  (It is customary to talk to the chief to establish relationship before working with the village.)

He took us to his little house and just opened his home to us and let us pitch our tents in his yard, placed next door to a Muslim mosque.

That night was the first for me to cook on an open fire for the group, a unique challenge, but by the grace of God it worked out.  After dinner, we reached out to the villagers and played “The Jesus film”  (just like The Passion, less graphic) and prayed for them.  The next day we played with the kids and ministered to the groups of people who congregated in the area.

The next day we went further into the bush where these people have never heard of Jesus.  It was very exciting to see them come from all around to watch the film.  There were a total of about 200 that showed up for the two nights.  Some people from the first night walked the 5km just to see the film again and get prayed for. They sat under the beautiful black glittering sky on the red clay dirt with the dung beetles the size of a golf balls.

At the end of the movie when Jesus is raised from the dead, almost all stood and raised their hands to receive Jesus into their hearts and have a personal relationship with Him.

Now that we created a relationship with them there will be another group visiting them and encouraging them.  We were privileged to meet them. They are so beautiful and kind.
