Hi! Here’s my story.
Iwas born as a very small baby from my mother’s womb… Just kidding! Not that story. (Although, that happened tooJ)
Here’s the brief version as it pertains to The World Race.
I grew up in a Christian home in Michigan. I have one older brother, Greg, who is now married and has a beautiful wife and daughter. So, I’m an Aunt and a Godmother. My parents are two of the most inspirational people I know, both spiritually and emotionally. They are really wonderful God-fearing people. I’m so blessed to have an amazing family! I love them so much!
I first heard about the race from a guy I was training at work. Come to find out, I knew his sister, Jeanette Wheeler. (Who is on the September race now!) He told me that she was going on a missions trip around the world for a year. I thought, wow, that sounds fantastic! But seriously, who packs up their life and leaves for a year!?! She must be crazy!!!
Days later, by Divine appointment, I talked with Jeanette at church and she told me all about it and how amazing her experience had been so far and that there is another race coming up in January! So, I prayed about it. The prayer was something along the lines of “God, this is crazy, but if you want me to go on this trip, please make it crystal clear that I should go.” After church, I couldn’t think of anything but the race! God reminded me of what He has done in my life: Christian education, Missions driven College, working with the homeless in New York, missions trips to Mexico, Peru, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and India! Not to mention, “The Great Commission” where He commands us to “Go into all of the earth and make disciples of all nations”. There seemed to be no reason for me not to go! That night, I couldn’t sleep. At 1:30 am I finally got out of bed and started filling out the application online. (Guess I’m crazy too!:)
My heart’s desire, my focus and my purpose is that God’s perfect will would be done in my life. This is my prayer. His thoughts are higher than my thoughts and His ways are better than anything I could ever dream of! I have had confirmation after confirmation that participating in The World Race is what He wants for my life. I have so much to do and many donations to raise, that it seems like it would take a miracle! He is a God of miracles! If it’s His will, it’s his bill!
After learning more about the world race, my desire is to not only to learn more about the world, but to help save lives, save souls and become more and more like Jesus!!!
