I want to direct you to my teammate
Cricket’s blog

as she has posted about The Daniel Fast and I can’t explain it better. I also want to give you a link to Daystar, where they have listed 7 steps in the Daniel Fast. Briefly our team was encouraged to fast as we felt lead, to enter into a closer relationship with the Lord and be spiritually prepared for training.

This fast has been very different from any that I’ve done prior…it has seemed as all my desires for the “forbidden” foods have been removed, thus making it relatively easy. I’ve recognized the sweet smells of delicious deserts, but have been fine with passing on them, even watching while others eat them! I feel I’ve become more aware and have paid more attention to the amount of control our Heavenly Father has. He’s suppressed my appetite for foods I’ve committed to abstaining from. I’ve recognized God’s provision in that as friends, suppliers, and co-workers take me out to lunch I’ve always been able to work with the waitor to find something to order. (Perkins was a tough one) In eating out I’ve also had to be bold in asking questions regarding what is in the food and how it is prepared…I’m now the “difficult” customer, inadvertently drawing attention to myself. It has also been a good way to start conversations about The World Race and fasting in general.

One thing that has been hard is dealing and facing some temptations of my past that seem to have presented themselves in the over the month. I have felt so week and nearly faltered to them, however, I’ve seemed to have drawn strength from this fast and continue to claim victory.
