Have you ever noticed movement? I’m not talking about seeing the leaves rustle and blow in the wind or a child trying to sit still in their seat. Something more, much more, some would refer to it as the movement of the Holy Spirit. Well today through a series of small events, I realized this movement in actuality for the first time. It’s an awe of being aware of how God is using a community of believers in diverse ways for His Kingdom. Coupled with this awe are feelings of excitement and a pride of Christ and that I’m blessed to be a part of it.

Every Thursday night my church hosts a bible study/fellowship for young adults 21-30 called The Space Between (TSB). I witnessed a lady at my table in conversation with the guy sitting next to her who had many questions about profits and the story of Jonah. I saw how God was using her in that moment, I later learned that she had invited him to come after they had met at a local park. Lexington is her mission field and she is living in that calling, thank God for Alice!

As our study evolved each of us were asked to write down people who we know who have willingly embraced their calling, unlike Jonah trying to run away from his. As people shared those they knew a common theme came clear, the callings have all been with in the last year or two and to people in our age group. I would like to share a few that I’m aware of, however I am sure there are more. Only because those such as Alice giving and serving with abandon to the local community tend to do so with the most humble of hearts.

Those at TSB have seen Ashley answer to Haiti, Jake to Honduras, Marc to Turkey(YWAM), and Steve to Seattle. We are preparing to send Allison and myself to the world, Kim to Seattle, and Cady to Haiti. Matt, Adam, and Nick have felt called to leave their current jobs and start attending Seminary. Short term mission trips to Africa, Honduras, New Orleans, and Jamaica are being filled and/or led by our group.
This is MOVEMENT! The exciting thing, those that are staying in the area, we don’t forget those that have left. We recognize the importance of our support and encouragement to our friends who have and will go. Knowing that when God calls there will always be a community of believers praying, encouraging, and supporting.
