So I have been thinking about how we are blessed in the States in ways that we don’t even realize sometimes that I think we should be aware of. This is list is from me and some of my squad mates, and I'm sure it will change along the way. Enjoy 🙂
- Clean drinkable water from any random faucet
- A hand towel in the bathroom
- Toilet paper readily available
- A chair to sit on
- A warm shower, not even hot…just warm (this I’m sure will change to a normal working shower head and not a bucket haha)
- A real bed to sleep in
- Warm water to wash dishes with
- A dishwasher
- Clean food/well cooked food = parasite/food poisoning free food 🙂
- Quiet
- Being able to stay clean after a shower more than 10 minutes
- Soap to wash your clothes with
- A washing machine and dryer
- A reliably flushing western toilet (this will change to a western toilet period soon haha)
- More clothes to wear than what can fit in your backpack
- More than one outlet to charge your electronics that you don’t have to share with 43 other people
- Popcorn…it’s here but not always easy to find
- A towel to dry yourself with
- A car to drive whenever and wherever you want to go
- The ability to take a walk by yourself
- The ability to see your friends and family when you want to
- Internet/wifi hubs
- Napkins to use during/after meals
- Kleenex to blow your nose with (lots of snot rockets happen here haha)
- A closet to put your clothes and stuff in…instead of digging through your backpack
- Vegetables (yup, we crave salads here even if we hate veggies back home)
- Knowing how much change you need back from a transaction because you don’t know the currency exchange
- Showering just because you want to
- Ice cream
- Public bathrooms. These churches just don’t have bathrooms
- Not having everyone know who you are just because you are American
- A bathroom stall to yourself without like 10 other people in there when you have to poop…bad. (shy poopers beware)
- Coffee
- Being able to have clean feet
- A couch to veg out on
