Surprise! I actually am going to have a few opportunities to be online and post blogs for you guys! It’s your lucky day ๐
Honduras is awesome so far! The place that we are staying at is called Zion’s Gate run by a wonderful man of God named Tony and his wife. We have just started ministry this week and I already know that God is going to bless the socks off of Honduras, Zion’s Gate, and our squad! Tony and the pastors here have such awesome dreams and goals for the youth and the people of Honduras. Of course our main goal here is to change the statistics of Honduras being the city with the most murders in the world, and show that God is very much alive here and at work.
The street kids that are currently here at Zion’s Gate all have amazing stories of where they were compared to where they are now. The four boys that live here are Herman, Carlos, Fernando, and Ronnie. There are also several other street kids that come up here just to hang out for the day. Each one of the boys is so uniquely created, and have such unbelievable stories that it’s amazing!
We even got to witness a 5 year dream come true for Tony. He had at least 4 former street kids stand up in front of a room full of current street kids and share the message that there is hope and that they are loved by God (the best father they could ever have). How amazing is that?! Tony and the rest of the staff at Zion's Gate had worked very hard for 5 years to see that moment. From what we’ve heard from Tony about what he and the other pastors have planned sounds so great. We will be working with elderly, orphans, street kids, building and restoring houses, playing soccer, and tons of other cool things.
What we have done here so far is a lot of manual labor on the property. My team leader and I actually just finished digging an 8" deep ditch that was over 100' long for the new water line. The hard part was that the ground we were digging in was made up of about 98% rock and 3% dirt haha. We were digging up huge rocks the size of car tires (or a little bigger)! I even dug up a rock that went all the way to China!
I can’t wait to blog to you guys all about what God is doing here in Honduras! Keep an eye out for updates and stories! I love you guys and am praying for all of you! ๐ Here are a few fun pics for your viewing pleasure
