Hokay, SO. I know all of you blog fans have been eagerly awaiting my next installment in this series π btw the uno in the last blog means 1 in english…not the card game. I know, I was confused at first too… haha. Back on subject. Just a short recap for those who might have missed the first blog (go read it first if ya did, I’ll wait right here for you to get back.) Prayer is something that I struggle with in all honesty, and I know I’m not the only one out there who does. So God has laid a few things on my heart to share. I shared some examples in how I fail in the prayer part of my relationship with God and had moved on to why I shouldn’t continue letting fails happen. Prayer is communication with God. I know, I know, you’ve heard that a thousand times….so have I. That fact never really impacted me though until a few months ago. I’m going to lay some ideas out on prayer, and what it means. Consider this for a moment…you meet this really cool kid one day and you are like “hey, this is a cool kid! We should be friends!” And so you guys decide to be friends, but you never talked to them or chilled out with them. Are you guys really friends? Number one: you know nothing about this new “friend” because you didn’t talk to them after you met them. Number two: you most likely don’t care about them because you haven’t made the time to invest in growing in your friendship. All words no actions to back them up….or maybe just not the right actions. Now imagine that this really cool kid is Jesus (because well He really is the coolest), and prayer studying your bible and spending time worshiping Him is your form of communication. If you don’t do these things you can’t get to know Him and grow in a relationship with Him. See God is more than just your homeboy that you can throw out His name and get into cool places, He is YOUR SAVIOUR. Make time for Him, and mean it! Otherwise you are gonna know His name and not who He really is….and that would be no bueno (still sneaking in the spanish haha! ) But for reals tho-He is legit. Try Him out you won’t be dissapointed. Now, don’t get too offended and not keep on reading. I am not perfect in talking and spending time with God, but the desire is there. AND I know He is all for talking it up so He’s going to help me keep up with Him. I’ll give you one more way to view how this relationship thing works with God. Imagine you find that “special someone”. Btw I’ve never really “dated” much less like I’m about to talk about but I’m confident that if this scenario makes sense to me it will to you too π So just for funzies let’s go through this. The first dates that happen are the awkward let’s go double/group date in case this dude is a creeper. Then that works out and you move to solo dating…dinner and movies type stuff. You start texting each other a lot and find excuses to hang out. Next comes the part where you’re ready for more serious stuff, the keys. Dun dun dunnnn. After the keys you get the ring, and after that ring you get a bigger ring and a life-long companion and lover. Pop out a few babies = the Walton’s ish family cuteness. Now place the man(or woman) in this story with Jesus. You glide right on through the awkard dates, solo dates are out of this world, and then you get to the keys. (I’ll go with the girl’s point of view on this story because…well, I am one.) You finally get the nerve to ask for that next level. Jesus is sitting across from you and right after you ask he pulls out spare keys with the biggest goofball grin a guy could have. Ah, love. Time goes by and you decide that you are ready for that next step again. You tell Jesus and He instantly pops out the most beautiful ring you could ever imagine looking completely smitten. I think you can figure out the rest. You guys have an eternity’s worth of heavenly moments. I can now give you a sneak peak into Jesus’s side of the deal. Did you know that before you, your parents, or your grandparents, were even born that Jesus was so comitted to you that He made you that ring when He knew you would exist and has been waiting patiently for you to be born and persue Him. Psalm 139 (basically my favorite) backs this up as it tells us that God knew us before we were born and loved us from the beginning of the beginning till the end of time. He never had eyes for anyone else but you. He has always been simply waiting for you to go to that next level. Remember He made that ring long before you breathed air. Talk about commited. Doesn’t that just blow your mind? He loves you so much! Each level of the dating relationship in this story is like a level in our relationship with God. Again we need communication and action. He’s ready for the next level. Are you? I heard something the other day about Christian growth that I really like “it is a dynamic event, but it is NOT automatic” We have to take those scary steps. But hey, at least you know there is one eager fellow waiting on you to take those steps π shout out to my E squad family for helping me see that prayer is SO much more important than I’d been taking it. There are some real prayer warriors on my squad that’d knock your socks off with prayer in a seconds notice if you needed it, and they are legit. No faltering of faith that God will Hear-simply comfidence that He does AND will do something about it. Prayer is powerful guys, like woah kind of powerful. Belive and you WILL see and know God better! Thank you for sticking to the end with me…I told you it was worth it! π We are very close to launch now, and I am continually grateful for all of you who read my blogs, pray for me, and support me financially!!! You guys rock! I’m still working on getting fully funded before I get to El Salvador so if you want to give finacial support there is no better time tham now! I will keep updating how much I lack being fully funded on my “support me” tab so keep an eye on it! God bless π
