Nepal is amazing! Being here for only a week I would move here in a heart beat. The people are very helpful and sweet. Mountains everywhere, it’s just beautiful. For the first couple days our squad stayed together in Kathmandu. We were right in the tourist district. Cute shops, little cafes, lots of people. I LOVED IT! We were able to spend some time together as a squad before we went to our different ministry sights. This month my team is working with a ministry called Prison Fellowship. PF has been around for about 20 years. They are the only christian organization that is allowed in Nepal prisons. They have been able to build chaples and libraries in many prisons. They plan on having chaples in every prison by 2012 and there are 74 prisons in all of Nepal. Not only do they minister in prisons but they help out the families of the prisoners and even ex-prisioners themselves.They have a women rehbilation program where they teach women a trade so they can work once they got out a prison. They also have houses all around Nepal that house children of prisoners. Some children have both parents in prison and at some point even the children were in prison because there was no one to take care of them. PF has resuced the children and given them a safe place to call home, education and loving house parents. So during this month we are visting 3 houses. The first house we were at is right outside of Kathmandu. Mostly boys live there. They all go to school which is like 2 minutes away. The house parents are absoultley amazing. After this we head to another house in Chitwan. We plan on being there for about a week and then head to another house in Pokhara. Its been a honor to work along with this ministry. They are doing amazing things. All the children I have encountered are happy healthy children. Even with a past like thiers they are blossoming into men and women of God. I’m believing and praying that these kids will not feel the repercuations of being abandoned and of having parents in prison. All these children are beautiful, smart and full of life! I’m excited to see everything that they will do for the Lord! So its been a great month so far and I can’t wait to see everything else that will come forth!!
