Community. I love community. I love when people believe in each other, love each other unconditionally, will do anything for each other, and just love to be around each other.
Community. I have been thinking a lot about this lately and I just want to share a few community things that I love or have stuck out to me in the past. (I hesitate to write examples because I KNOW I will forget some key ones, but I still want to share a few) 🙂
**There was a concert fundraiser for me this past weekend put on by some amazing friends and located at a generous non-profit. I didn’t have to worry about who was going to help clean up. My friends, who had just paid to come to the concert, stayed to clean everything up. Community
**I love that on Saturdays, in the fall in Nebraska, a group of us friends ALWAYS go over to the same wonderful friend's house to watch the Husker games. It is an open invite. There is always a certain group of us there but EVERYONE is ALWAYS invited. It is just understood. Community
**Last year, a co-worker's relative had just died. She was going to be gone from work for a while, but she still had to get lesson plans ready for when she was gone. Another coworker came into the room, plopped down a pile of papers and said, “Here are your math lesson plans, all done." And then the team of teachers proceeded to help in any way they could. **When I was really young, I remember my dad was hurt. I think it was his back. I remember the whole farming community coming together to help with all of the field work, to help out our family. I remember a zillion men sitting in our house in several different rooms eating dinner. Community
**I love that there are friends that, even though you haven’t seen them or talked to them in a while, you know that at the drop of a hat you could pick up like old times. Community
**I love that I have friends who will love and support me no matter what. Friends that will listen to me, cry with me, laugh with me, understand me, or not understand me but try to anyway. I love that I have friends I know I could call or text at any hour to talk with or ask to pray for me. I love that. Community
**Three days. My friends and family helped me raise $3,525, a plane ticket, and a checked bag fee in 3 days so that I could begin this journey into the unknown. You, reading this, helped me do this and continue to help me do this. Community
Thank-you!!!!!
