WANTING MORE THAN WHAT’S AT HOME
Well, here goes… My ultimate passion in life is people. Relationships. Growth. If I’m not investing in people or growing deeper in relationships, I feel like I’m missing something. As I’ve gotten older (at 29, I know I’m not really OLD), I care not as much about how social I am, but how deep my friendships become. God has been teaching me so much lately through ups and downs about just how Sovereign He is and how He gives and takes away. Nothing and no one is forever or guaranteed. But Himself 🙂 So with this short time I have on this earth and this passion in my heart for people, I’m diving in to invest it in others… to the remotest ends of the earth.
I graduated from Fresno State in California in 2003 and immediately started working as a Sign Language Interpreter for deaf and hard of hearing people. I absolutely love what I do and the people I work with! Not many people can say that so I know how blessed I am. I have everything that I need, yet have always felt like there is so much more purpose to my life that I have not tapped into yet. Did God really put me on this earth to go to work everyday, pay bills, work out, go to church, etc.? I have challenged my students for years to think beyond their small world of Fresno, Ca. I’ve stepped out before to experience more on a small scale (Honduras trip with Medical Ministry International), but now I’m ready for a bigger scale. To see more of what God’s created. The people He’s fashioned and loves. I’ve prayed for many years to see people through His eyes and that my heart would break for what breaks His. To carry one another’s burdens and in so doing, fulfilling the law to love Jesus and people. I’m excited to see what He’s going to do in me and through me to accomplish that. I am looking forward to being put to work in practical ways to help people in their community. To making life about more than what I am doing at home. To show my friends and family back home what life is like through my new set of eyes as I see the world, that they may love and care for the same things.
Now for the serious stuff…
I can be quite loud and silly.
I talk in my sleep (apparently I’m going to Paris soon.)
I like board and card games.
My favorite food is cereal (I’ve never found one I didn’t like and I’m actually a tad nervous about not eating it every day).
I do triathlons and marathons.
I love camping, riding motorcycles, and fishing.
I enjoy almost every kind of music.
I’ve recently acquired a love for playing the guitar (although I use the word “play” very loosely). Hmmm, any ideas on how can I bring my guitar with me?
