This week and am living in my tent on the YWAM Brisbane base. I woke up to all these different birds calling out. There is one, or maybe more, that sounds like a video game to me… so for a sleepy moment I thought I might be dreaming I was in a game. There are so many birds, big spiders, giant bats, mega crows, turkeys, and possums hanging around here, they seemed worth a mention but now onto the good stuff…
We, my team and one other team, are in a town called Michelton. The water ways are not well taken care of and the community wants that to change so we are helping YWAM in cleaning them out. It has been a ton of shoveling and weeding. Dirty work but it is blessing to this community and opening lines of communication with the people. This is team 12:18 after a couple hours of work, in 2 days we cleared out one tunnel that was thick with dirt & sand…
You can’t tell too much in the picture but we are filthy dirty, sweaty and smelly, so we decided not to stand to close ;). We do have access to showers where we are staying so Praise the Lord!
We spent one afternoon going out in the community and just meeting and talking to people. I am excited to continue getting to know the two women I met.
And then today we visited Moonah Park Age Care Facility. We sang some songs and played games. I hung out for a while with Bill, last month he turned 101!! He loves music and was so blessed to listen to Erin playing the piano…

We will be going there a couple more times while we are here. Next week we are going to help the residents who can’t see well play B-I-N-G-O!
Last Sunday we went to church and one of my squad mates, John Smith, met a man who is a refugee from Sudan. Then he went with a couple others to his house later in the week. Bill is his name and he let them know there are many refugees from Sudan in this area and wants us to help teach them. So, all of us are meeting with him and his pastor tomorrow. This is a great opportunity so please pray for us. More to come on this later in the week.
Some other prayer request: health & strength- some of my teammates are in pain
that my support comes in.. it hasn’t increased much since I left and I need about $7000 more
for spiritual protection- the enemy really does not want to see growth here
Thanks for reading and for your support.. I am honored to serve this year!
