Christ I was a freshman in High School. Over spring break I went with
my youth group to Mexico to serve kids for the week. During that week
God impressed upon me a heart for the world. Not just to love everybody
but a desire to see all come to spend eternity in Heaven. That has been
a part of my heartbeat ever since. Though at times it beats stronger
than others. So, I have done short term missions trip ranging from one
week to 20 days. I must say there was something in me that felt more at
home on those trips than any time else. Back when I graduated college I
wanted to go for a least a year and started praying and waiting on
that. It seemed I would get to do it and go to Thailand for a couple
years. God had other things in mind and I realized it was not yet time
for me to go.
That desire never left me and one big challenge for me was
deciding where to go. I had hard season which I allowed to lessen my
heartbeat for the world. Over these past 2 years the heartbeat has been
getting increasingly stronger and I realized it was time to go, though
I still didn’t know where. As I began to research and listen I
discovered the World Race. My heart went a bit crazy when I heard about
it through a friend at my church. Then a week later one of my brothers
announce he was going on the World Race. Ken is leaving this August so
we won’t be on the same team or in the same places at the same time but
I am still excited to read about his journey as I prepare for mine.
Then to have my brother to share the experience with after we are both
home… how amazing. God is truly Awesome!
