How do you describe what it is like to have a dream come true? When God answers a prayer so big that you yourself really don’t think that it would ever come true. A safety net is put up in your mind because your dream is so big that it could never possibly come true, to only find that God did the impossible and once again made it come true. Welcome to Swaziland, a country that is predicted to be dead by 2050 and the country that God used to do mighty things in my life. The answered prayer, a beautifully stocked medical clinic with no one to run it catering to the surrounding community and 65 orphans that live on site. My ministry, to run the clinic and train people in basic nursing skills. On top of that teach a weekly health class and just for kicks a weekly cheerleading clinic.

I cannot describe the amount of love that I have felt from my squad mates in jumping in behind me and manning the projects that I have put before them trying to improve the clinic. Thanks to all of the hard work the clinic now has two exam rooms, storage shelving, it protected from flooding by a trench and raised up medication carts, the once Swiss Cheese roof is now leak free, we have a rock doormat and most recently a sign! Through our hard work Amanda, Tina, Ruby and a few other of my squad mates and I were able to work on cleaning out the storage room and create a truck bed worth of donations to take to the local government hospital. What an absolute honor to be a part of a ministry this month that seeks to selflessly bless their community. Each day that I walk down to the clinic I praise God for asking me to head up the clinic and I also pray for the patients that He will bring to me that day. I enjoy the challenge of thinking critically and being the only health care provider in miles pushes me to continually do my best in my practice. I will admit, there have been moments where I have thought “I wish I had paid better attention in nursing school.” Thankfully God hasn’t given me a patient where I have been totally lost. That is the great thing about God, He knows our limits and if we are operating in His will we can’t fail because He won’t give us more than we can handle. I find much comfort in that. Praise the Lord for calling us into greater things and walking with us all the way through them.
