In the remaining days of getting ready to leave on the World
Race, God has been speaking to me about urgency.
Now, there is a definite urgency about packing and leaving
and all of the logistics. But, I’m talking about spiritual urgency. In the
remaining days, God has been placing me in positions to reach out to family
members and close friends, whether Christian or non-Christian. Specifically, I
have seen a theme of praying for a freedom from fear. Fear is a very real
killer of people; not just physically but emotionally and spiritually.
So, in the urgency of leaving in two days, I want to
encourage those facing fear, whether from saying goodbyes, facing the unknown
or some other fear with these verses from Hebrews 2:14-15: “[Jesus] too shared
in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power
of death – that is, the devil – and free
those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.”
Jesus would have you live your life to fullest, free from fear!!
Race I will be able to live with that same urgency to spread the good news of
Jesus and the freedom He brings. Maybe it is fitting that the name of the World
Race team I am on is “Libre” – Spanish for freedom.
