So basically I was confused on weather I should do the whole minimalist thing for the World Race because it was brought up earlier in the week, and had no idea if I should do it personally. I've also been wondering about how God talks to me and was praying to the Father about that as well. In the past God has for the most part spoken to me through His word. so I was reading Luke Chapter 22 tonight and I was delaying reading it because it's where Judas betrays Jesus and Jesus gets arrested. Little did I know God had an answered prayer nestled in that message just for me!
Luke 22:35-36
35) Then Jesus asked them, "When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?" "Nothing," they answered. 36) He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell you cloak and buy one."
I think what God is telling me here is that, yes, the minimalism thing is a very humble and good thing to do, but if you have the means to get what you need to make your journey a little easier and safer, then use them. I really like this passage just because it is such a bold and direct answer to my prayer, and the fact that He answered my prayer so quickly, which I am so undeserving of in the first place, is awesome! Our God is an awesome God!
