I am now officially on an incredible journey, The World Race. I am excited and humbled at the same time. Getting accepted, I was personally ready to get on a plane and go. The reality of this is that I need to prepare physically, spiritually, and financially. If you are reading this and have been on a trip like The World Race, you might understand more clearly this task. For those who have not, let me give you a bit of insight into the life and prep of a racer.
If you looked at the home page you saw the cost of the trip on the top of the blog. The cost is very high, as travel is something that is not cheap. Each racer has to fundraise in order to raise the funds in order to go. This task is a huge spiritual aspect of preparation for this trip. This is the first support raising I have done for a serious amount of money. I remember sitting in the kitchen looking at my support letter and four boxes of envelopes I would be sending out to friends and family. It all seemed a bit overwhelming. My family clearly saw my frustration as well. I finally stopped, took a breath, and then prayed. I prayed God would take everything into his hands and guide me. After this, the whole process of mailing letters came together. I hand delivered some, found addresses, and finished my mailing list.
This short example is just one way God can work on your heart as a racer. You have to ultimately rely on God in all of it. You can not do it on your own. When God is given control of it all, He begins to weave everything into motion as He wishes. I am continuing to learn about God being faithful during this endeavor and I am certain my life will be altered because of it.
