Well I’m definetly not in Kansas anymore.
Granted I haven’t truly lived in Kansas since ’09 but the saying is still true. I am currently sitting at a mcdonalds in Odessa, Ukraine eating a happy meal and loving the free wifi.
My team and I arrived safely to Odessa, Friday morning around 6:15 after long plane rides and train rides. Although we have only been here a few days it’s amazing how quickly we adjust to life. We were blessed by a team of ukranian missionaries who have taken us in and have offered some truly amazing hosipitality and teu ukranian cuisine (which is not my favorite but it’s not all bad just lots of dill). For the first days I this Eastern European country we worked with gypsy children. We were able to help out with a gypsy children camp. Our hearts were immediately touched by their excitement to hang out with the “Americans” and teach us gypsy and Ukraine. They loved my teammate Jonathan. He was the most studious of us all and the boys loved his beard, which is barba in gypsy and appareantly not a common thing in the Ukraine.
After camp ended we have been buisying our time by getting to know each other and team bonding. We visited the Black Sea yesterday with our new American friend Brittany. She has been gracious enough to show us some of the ropes and fill in the cultural gaps with our host family and life in general in the Ukraine.
Although I have experienced some jet lag and homesickness, I am blessed to be here with my team living out our one life goal: to serve Jesus in all that we do.
So I love you all and can not wait to continue to update y’all about the Lord is doing in my life, my team’s life and those who the Lord blesses us with.
