I’m in HONDURAS, baby! Let me give you a quick run down on what that looks like. Honduras is a gorgeous country with rolling mountains, valley sunsets, cows roaming the streets, three-wheeled moto taxi’s driving like madmen down bumpy dirt roads, houses seemingly stacked on top of each other up the mountains in the cities, and cute plastered houses of bright colors in the villages. Take my word, it’s breathtaking.

The ministry we have the opportunity to work with this month is called New Life Children’s Home (www.newlifehonduras.org

The precious couple running the ministry are Ron and Annette Thiesen, along with their son, Micah. They are missionaries from Peru and getting to know them has been such an honor. They are an incredible family that has such a passionate heart for the things of the Lord. There are 47 kids at the home, ranging from 5-19, and they love each one just like their own. Their vision is not just to run an “orphanage” where these children just exist, but they are constantly pouring into them, teaching them life skills and how to work hard, helping them get the best education they can and build a relationship with God, and bringing restoration in their lives. Ron and Annette are constantly surrounded by people, pouring out their hearts, working 24/7, yet they are the most down to earth and giving people you will ever meet, always with huge smiles on their faces.

The children have all already stolen my heart. They all have their own little personalities. Some are little monkeys climbing on everything, some are shy and reserved, some are the funniest little stinkers, others fiery as a firecracker, and they’re all so smart and loving. I’ve gotten to learn some of their stories, and while they can be heart wrenching, it is amazing to see how much God has done in their lives. They seem to have such joy while running around and playing. They have had people in and out of their lives, yet they latch on to you as if you were the first one. They have hope here and it’s so beautiful to see what the Lord is doing through this ministry in their lives. I want to adopt them all!

It’s been amazing though as God has begun to reveal His heart for His children through this month. He so passionately loves them and pursues them without relent. This home truly takes after it’s name, because wherever you look, you can see life so vibrant in all of these children. And that is so beautiful!

Ron and Annette are doing great things here, but they need more support to carry out this vision. They don’t receive money from the government and are dependant solely on donations. Ideally, they’re hoping to get 2-3 people to sponsor each child to help take care of their daily needs and help them get the education they need.

It’s a great ministry that is making a HUGE difference in this community, the families, and especially these children! Take a minute to check out their website and look at the pictures of the kids! Be warned, your heart may become attached. Would you consider sponsoring one of these children? Whether it’s $5 or $100, anything would help this home! Thanks for reading, more updates coming!

And what you’ve all been waiting for…the sugarcane farmer and his machete! He was super nice and cut us all pieces of sugarcane fresh from the field!
