Acts 16:6-10

They went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia. When they had come opposite Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them; so, passing by Mysia, they went down to Troas. During the night Paul had a vision: there stood a man of Macedonia pleading with him and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” When he had seen the vision, we immediately tried to cross over to Macedonia, being convinced that God had called us to proclaim the good news to them.

I was originally accepted for The January 2015 Fusion Route. I was thrilled to have the chance to not only do ministry overseas, but to be working with a multicultural team along the way. Mid-September, I changed routes, for various reasons.

My new route was July 2015, Route 5. I could tell right away that it was an amazing group of people. We had a group chat going quickly, where people would share prayer request and praise reports, and simply talk about how things were going. It felt like a family, and again I was looking forward to ministering alongside these fantastic men and women with a heart for serving the Lord with their time and talents.

Then last week, we got a big surprise: because there were not enough people signed up for Route 5, it was being disbanded.

That did not mean no Race, but it did mean choosing a new route. Some people knew right away which one they were going to switch to. Some took a little longer to make the decision. Many are still going in July, some are going in September. I know full well that the Lord will use each and every one of them to do amazing things wherever they go.

My own decision, after looking through all the routes currently posted and praying about it, is to switch to January 2016 Route 4. The list of destinations is as follows:

  • Mozambique
  • Malawi
  • Zambia
  • Philippines
  • Thailand
  • Cambodia
  • Colombia
  • Ecuador
  • Peru
  • Chile
  • Argentina

A couple months ago I had no idea that I would be leaving an entire year after I originally planned to. But as the passage I shared at the beginning of this entry shows, even though a person’s intentions may be good, God will make sure He gets you where He wants you even if it’s not where you think you should be. You just need to let it go and trust that He knows what is best. Lean on His understanding and not your own- because He knows a whole lot more than we ever will!
