I finally got around to reading the blogging tutorials this week. Perhaps I should have done that BEFORE I started blogging, but it’s too late now. One of the things it said to do was to use my voice. I don’t think I’ve been very good at doing that.
I think my last couple of posts I’ve been really excited about what I’ve been learning, which is great, but it also doesn’t tell you anything about who I actually am. Part of it, at least, is because I want Jesus to be glorified in everything I do, but He is also glorified in my weakness.
I’ve been stressing really hard for the last week or so. I’m not sure why because at the end of my second week fundraising, I’m right were I want to be. My goal is to raise $1600 per month and today, I have $825 raised. I keep staring at the bar and worrying that I’m not going to have the money in time to go to training camp or go on my trip.
So, the next fundraiser I’m going to run is a t-shirt campaign. So, before I put that up, I would like to say a couple of things about the design. First, I would like to say that yes, I know it should be “Whom shall I send?” but that doesn’t go with the owl, so it says who.
For me, this mission trip has two theme verses. Oddly, they both come out of Isaiah. The verse on the shirt, Isaiah 6:8, is a verse that I’ve been praying and singing since I was a child. It says “I heard the voice of the Lord saying ‘Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?’ and I said ‘Here I am, send me!'”
I picked an owl to go on the shirt, because, let’s face it, I love owls. In Greek mythology and most of western literature, the owl represents wisdom. Wisdom is something that I desire, not only for this mission trip, but also for my life in the States.
Not gonna lie, my blog address on the back of the t-shirt is just a shameless plug.
In case you’re wondering, my second theme verse is Isaiah 1:17 “Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.” But that’s another post for another day.
Here’s an owl for you:)
