Our last night in Africa was spent enjoying the native flaura and fawna of the land. Our kruger Safari a few weeks ago satisfied our appetite for watching the lions sleep, hearing the baboons howl, smelling the elephant dung and even touching baby snakes, but one ‘sense’ had yet to be tempted…
Taste.
So, at The Carnivore – a resturant found only in South Africa and Kenya – we tested out our canines.
Be aware vegetarians and animal rights activists…this may be a bit disturbing!
But, for those whose ‘sweet tooth’ is satisfied by a big juicy steak…

Bon Apetite!
The meat is cut right before you.

This was my plate at one point of the night. Guess the mystery meat!

The following pictures I took while on the Kruger Safari…they represent the meat sampled and shown above.

Kudu

ostrich

crocodile

zebra

warthog

and even the cute giraffe…
The winner: Ostrich
Runner up: Giraffe
Both are very juicy and delicious!
For bonus points – guess the picture below. It was a novelty in Mozambique and often given to us at the refugee camps. Most didn’t enjoy it very much, so it left more for the foodies of the group (Lynette and I). Lucky Me!
Intestines! From What?

The staple meat in Africa: GOAT!
Good Bye Africa. You will be missed. This is only a ‘See you later’ – I WILL be back!
