“O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.” – Psalms 8:1

Last night I sleep outside under the stars. The sky was brilliant. The moon was shining brightly and the stars twinkled back at me. Every few minutes a star would shoot across the vast sky. In the breeze that gently kissed my cheek, I felt God whisper in my ear “I have the whole world in my hands. Do not be worried or anxious. I made the heavens, the moon and the stars. I set them in place just as I have set you in place. I rule the nations. Trust in me and my majesty.” The longer I laid there, the more I was flooded with his righteousness and awesome majestic beauty. We serve a BIG God…he holds the whole world in the palm of his hands. It is not up to me or even about me.

Earlier in the day, I was frazzled. We had just arrived in Palenque, and it seemed like there was 10,000 things that I (and only I) had to do right now. I had to have a financial meeting…I had to blog…I had to find an ATM…I had to buy groceries…I had to do laundry…I had to send e-mails…I had to take a shower. I was not able to concentrate on just one thing, so I was unable to get anything done. Frustration piled upon frustration. Self-pity turned to more self-pity and I continued to look inside of myself for strength instead of to Jesus. I was spent on behalf of the “urgent”, thus I could not spend myself on the behalf of others.

Truthfully, I was a little nervous to sleep outside, without a tent, with the possibility of a downpour, being eaten up mosquitoes, stung by a scorpion…basically I was scared of being exposed and vulnerable to my surroundings. But I felt God calling me to abandon these simple fears as a symbol of utter abandonment to him. He said, “You do not need a roof over your head. Look up. I cover you with my majesty and glory. What are you afraid of.”

The Lord blessed me that night. He took my blinders off and opened my eyes to the glory and beauty that surrounds me everyday. He is in control. He is supreme and sovereign. He does not need us. Yet God has chosen man as his method of spreading his kingdom to each and every nation. He holds the whole world in His hands.

Continuing on with
Psalms 8:3-5 – ” When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of the man they you care for him? You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.”

Please enjoy some of the beauty that I have been blessed with these last few days.
