After the church service, a young mother comes up to me and hands me her baby. I eagerly hold her young one as she sleeps in my arms. I rock her back and forth as I gently lift the blanket off her face. She cannot be more than a few weeks old, I think to myself. Yet sadly, I can tell that this baby has already endured a life I cannot even imagine. I have learned a lot about simple, beauty of the human spirit from the Haitians.
Later that afternoon, I found out that this baby had received no food or water for the first 10 days of it’s precious little life. On day 10, the mom brought her to the mission for help. The staff quickly supplied the mom with some formula. Miraculously, the baby was now growing stronger everyday. About 3 months after returning to the US, I received a newsletter from the Mission of Hope in Haiti. A picture of this beautiful child of God was on the front page. My eyes filled with tears as I read about how “we have lost this little one”. She was a fighter, but she had too many obstacles to cross over at such a tender age. (see picture above)
This is one very real reason why I am doing The World Race. God’s heart cries out for his little ones. Each one is special to him. The Lord is slowly breaking my heart for the things that break his heart. As God sent his son, Jesus, to reconcile the hurting world to Himself, he still sends out ministers of reconciliation into the world to be witnesses of his love, truth and hope. God has been sending out faithful followers since the time of Paul to the current day World Racers and will continue to send out witnesses until his return.

What a privilege, that God is inviting us to be a part of spreading his Kingdom here on earth. He had prepared and equipped each of us with unique gifts, wisdom, knowledge and resources to fulfill his call in our lives. For some it means leaving friends and family and going to another country while for others it means sharing the love of God right where you are at with your community, co-workers, friends and family. For some it means giving generously in support of a missionary while for others it means spending hours in prayer and intercession for the nations. We each have a very unique and important calling in our lives in advancing His kingdom.

“Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” Romans 12: 4-5
We are all part of Christ’s body and we NEED each other in order to reach our full potential. Personally, the Lord has called me to the Nations. I have heard the word “GO!” loudly, and am running hard after Christ and his purpose for my life. On December 29th, I, along with 53 incredible brothers and sisters embark on this call. BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP! Some of us are still short of our goal of $13,000. It is all supposed to be in our account or pledged before we leave. Personally, I have roughly $9,000 in cash and pledges. I still have $4000 to raise in two weeks. I know that the Lord provides where HE leads. I want to say thanks again to all of you who have jumped aboard so far, sometimes the Lord just wants more of us to join him!

“But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body.” 1 Cor. 12:18-20
