Today is day 17 until I land on American soil! In a way, I don’t really believe it. For so long I have packed up and moved to so many different countries, the States seemed like a destination I would never get to. But it’s so soon! It just really hasn’t sunk in yet to be honest. I’m just living in the moment here soaking up the last weeks of this race!

South Africa is a great place to spend our last month! I am living in a community called Oceanview that is about 45 minutes from Cape Town. Being here is helping prepare for the culture shock of returning to a country of overwhelming wealth after a year of living in poverty, especially living in Africa for four months. After our three day driving trip from Swaziland to Cape Town, I was already amazed at the buildings, car dealerships, and restaurants that surrounded me… But more on that later!

Our days in ministry are spent at a town every week. The first week we worked at a local community preschool in the morning and helped at a holiday camp in the afternoon, which is basically a VBS for kids on holiday break. This past week, we worked at another preschool and an orphanage in a poorer community near us. Both weeks were great because we just got to love on kids who probably don’t get much attention in the first place.

One day this past week, we spent the day touring Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope– The southern most tip of Africa!   It was a BEAUTIFUL day, which is rare because it’s winter here filled with freezing, windy, cloudy days. We took advantage of the good weather and headed out to see how amazing our Creator is!

Now I have one week of ministry left, one week of final debrief, then I will be home the next week!!!
