I was reminded of something very important when I was in church on Sunday and that was my need for a Savior. It is so easy to get comfortable in life and forget how much I truly need Jesus. The race is going to create many challenges and new experiences, the only constant in my life for the 11 months I am gone very well might be Jesus. The environment is going to change, the culture, the ministry, quite likely the team I am with each month, the food, the bugs, the climate- EVERYTHING. But I know that my Savior will not change and that is a great comfort.

It is easy to see how much our world needs a savior and I am so excited to have the opportunity to share the great news of the gospel with people all over the world who are in desperate need of a savior. People living in the bondage of prostitution, people living with AID, people homeless, people addicted to drugs, orphans, widows, and so many other people but I think it will also remind me of how much I truly need a savior. I know I will be in situations where I have to rely on other people. Where I have to trust God fully. I wish this was something I was better at but the truth is it is a struggle for me.

The biggest challenge for me at this point is fundraising. It is hard for me to be in a situation where I fully have to rely on other people. I have no doubt in my mind that the race is where God wants me in the fall but I also know that I do not have the money needed for the trip. The only way it will be possible for me to go is the generous donations of others. I am learning through fundraising what it means to trust in God and to give up control. God is so much bigger than I can even imagine and I need to stop doubting his abilities.

***And now for some exciting news! I have recently switched routes for the race. There is an opportunity for one of the routes to be part of the creation of a documentary about what the World Race is and how it is changing lives. After praying about it a lot I know this is where God wants me and I am so excited. The countries I am going to are going to be changing as it is a different route. We don’t know which countries we will be in for sure as it depends on what opportunities are present and where God is calling the team to but it looks like we will be in Asia, Africa, Central America and possibly Europe. I am so excited to see how everything unfolds with this new route.***

And finally I just want to give a shout out to my big brother. I promised him I would mention him in a post and I just wanted everyone to know how awesome he is. Seriously, not many girls can say they have woken up to the smell of fresh pancakes their brother has made for them, or one that is willing to drive to my campsite with Tim Horton’s coffee (the easiest way to my heart is with a Tims coffee) or one that makes cookies and brownies and other delicious treats for me to eat. He is seriously just amazing and if you don’t know him you should.
