Before starting the World Race, I sang
on a worship team at the International House of Prayer –
Tallahassee. Even though I’ve always loved to worship, it was during
this time that I came alive. When I sang here, it was like no other
person was in the room. Just me and Jesus. I felt like I was just
sitting at His feet, loving Him. It was my sweetest time with Him.
Month 3 on the Race we were in Croatia.
It was here that I picked up Dez‘s guitar and I said to myself, I’m
just going to learn. I was
frustrated with myself. It was hard. I literally made my teammates
pray over me time after time to be able to play. I kept bugging Joe
every 5 minutes with questions about the guitar. I was determined to
learn something.
At the
end of this month, out of nowhere (to me) our teams changed. Joe and
Dez weren’t on my team anymore. That meant I no longer had a guitar
to play or anyone to teach me. Great,
I thought. How am I supposed to learn now?
So I prayed. I knew that if God wanted me to worship him via guitar,
He’d provide a way. So I asked him to give me a guitar. Maybe four
days later my squad leader Brian says, “Hey Stacy I think you
should have my guitar for the rest of the year.” Um okay! What a
quick answer to prayer! So I took it. All year I’ve been practicing
and it’s been the best. I’m not the best, that’s for su
re. But God
has used it so much this year, especially while we were in Africa.
I’ve had such an amazing time learning.
During
final debrief, I knew that the time to give up Brian’s guitar was
near. I can’t lie, I was a little sad. Brian asked me if I was
planning on getting a guitar when I get home. I quickly said “Yes!
The pawn shop is my first stop!” And then I thought about it for a
second and said, “Actually, no. God is going to give me another
guitar, just like He did last time.” I mean He’s God, He’s cool, He
loves me. Why wouldn’t He? After worship that same night, Dez makes
an announcement to the entire squad that since she had another one at
home, she wanted to give me her guitar to keep. YEAH!! I was so
happy! I even did my goofy happy dance. Even though I shouldn’t be
surprised, I really was blown away at how quickly God had answered my
prayer. He is so faithful! I have a guitar! He is so good! I love
worshiping Jesus with my guitar and I can’t wait to continue to get
better and who knows, maybe even write a song or two some day!
This
is a testimony not just of how I got my guitar, but really of how God
listens to our prayers. Worshiping Him is for His glory. Providing a
guitar for me is not a difficult task for the God of this entire
universe. What is something you want Him to provide for you? Just ask
Him.
