As I sat in my bed deciphering the difference between God’s voice and the voices of distraction around me, I was led to write a song. So I sat down to write a song, and started brainstorming. Then, I realized that I have no idea how to write a song, as I have no ear what-so-ever for music. I literally can’t sing and clap at the same time. So I wrote a poem instead that I thought I would share with all of you, and if one of you wants to make it into a song, have fun!

Life is a web of endless voices

beckoning us with piercing eyes,
we’re caught in a daily battle
to emerge from the crossword of lies.

The enemy taunts and jeers
as through the maze we stumble,
lost and searching frantically
to make sense of life’s jumble.

If only we would hear his voice,
if only we would hear the thunder,
the gentle whisper in the wind,
echoing the voice of wonder.

If only we would hear his voice,
if only we would hear the cry,
of the lowly shepherd boy
singing his flock a lullaby.

The heavens proclaim its majesty,
it is the theme song of the wild,
His voice rains down through all things,
it is the laugh of a newborn child.

It guides us down the straight and narrow,
it never leads our feet astray,
it makes sense of life’s confusion,
it is the truth; it points the way.

If only we would hear his voice,
if only we would hear the thunder,
the gentle whisper in the wind,
echoing the voice of wonder.

If only we would hear his voice,
if only we would hear the cry,
of the lowly shepherd boy
singing his flock a lullaby.

So speak to us, make known your voice,
speak to us, and we will hear,
Speak to us, make known your voice,
speak to us, as you draw us near.
