I have sent this email to every contact I have and for the sake of time have copied and pasted in the same format below. Please read.
Hello everyone,
I pray you’re all well and had a great Indepedence Day. We were able to have a BBQ to celebrate the 4th here in Africa as well. I am now in my second African country, Malawi. My team has also changed. This month, Team Werk is living and serving with a local pastor. named Blessings, in the capitol city of Lilongwe.
We are working with churches, orphanages, widows, schools and children’s soccer team. There is so much need here but God continues to highlight certain needs as I encounter them, that I would like to connect you with. He has laid it upon my heart to reach out to you all about one time-sensitive need in particular.
I had the privelege of sitting down for coffee with out host a few days ago. I was able to hear his testimony and ask him questions. When I asked him what the greatest struggle for believers here in Mawali is, he said “bibles.”
This Sunday, I will be preaching at a remote village outside of Lilongwe. Until the last World Race Team visited, they had never seen a foreigner and until Blessings found them they had never heard the Word of God. They are living in extreme poverty. For them, buying a bible would mean giving up two weeks of food. But yall, a bible is only 3500 kwacha, less than ten dollars.
I can’t imagine my faith without a bible. How do you stand on truth when you don’t know the truth? How do you learn the teachings of Jesus, the promises of God and the glory of heaven if you don’t have a bible? Yes there is word of mouth and Blessings is doing all he can to make sure that happens. But a Bible is a priceless treasure and we can help them get one.
If I had the means to buy for everyone in the village, I would. But I don’t. So that’s where I am hoping God will move your heart to give to this cause.
There are 200 people in the village. That’s roughly $2000. I am hoping for at least $1000. That way a bible gets to each home. If you would like to buy a bible or bibles, please send your donation to my Paypal account at
[email protected] and email me to let me know. PayPal takes a few days so I will be checking my email again on Saturday (hopefully) and making the purchase then.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please feel free to pass this along to anyone you know who might be willing to help whether that be in prayer, encouragement or financially.
“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act. Do not say to your neighbor, “Come back tomorrow and I”ll give it to you” – when you already have it with you.” (Proverbs 3:27-28 NIV)
