God has a tendency of hijacking my plans. Whether it be small things, like how we will travel to each city, or big things like returning to teach Elementary School after the World Race….which obviously turned into squad leading B-squad and is leading into other things I definitely didn’t have in “the plan”.

Right now, I’m sitting in a hostel in Antigua, Guatemala trying to muster up the motivation to pack my things so Mike & I can travel to visit another team in Antigua,Team Kaleo. If you would have asked what our travel plans were last week, I would have told you that we’d be in Chimaltanango visiting 3 of our teams right now. But, things haven’t worked out exactly as we planned…such is life 🙂

We left Antigua to visit Team Freedom, then returned to Antigua to catch a bus to visit another team a few hours from here. But, it rained like crazy the first 10 or so days we were here so the roads were washed out and no buses were running. So, we revised our travel plans and decided to visit the 3 teams living in Antigua for the month.

Unknown to either of us, the Real Life Guatemala (a college age 4 month mission trip) team was staying at the same hostel as 2 of our teams for their mid-point debrief. I was able to catch up with Julian, their leader and a fellow P-squad alumni, and his co-leader Glenalyn, which was so awesome. And Mike was able to catch up with his field support, Nick, from the Kenya trip that he led in the spring. It was so crazy and encouraging to talk about the things that the Lord is teaching us through leading these groups.

We had a great night of worship with the Real Life and World Race groups, which ended in stories of what the Lord has done and prayers over each other. So incredible that these groups were united to encourage each other!

We’ve been able to breathe life into these teams and have some much needed conversations of truth and encouragement. We also were able to spend time with 4 of our teams on their day off yesterday, which is half of the squad! The day included going to an extremely fancy hotel to take a shuttle to a restaurant on top of a mountain…..and we ended up crashing a wedding, which was a black and white tie affair complete with the women wearing prom dresses. Maybe the best thing from the day was when Dave, one of our team leaders, was trying to ask why we didn’t get on the bus while the bride and groom were walking out the door…we quietly reminded him that we didn’t want to ruin the “moment” on their wedding day. Random & ridiculous fun times 🙂

Please keep praying for the 8 teams on B-squad. They are doing so much for the Kingdom and growing closer to the heart of the Lord this month. Stories from their ministries coming soon…
