One of the hardest things about being on the mission field is the realization that, while I’m content and happy to be pursuing my passion to change the world, there are life-changing events happening in people’s lives that are very dear to me. Although I may not be able to be present in physical form, I am still there in spirit.
My sweet friends Sarah and Matthew Domel welcomed their first child, Jack, into the world on August 1st. I remember having lunch with Sarah and telling her about my decision to go on the World Race in July, to which she responded, “well, you’ll miss the baby by a month.” I was saddened by the fact that I would miss out on such an important day in their lives, but knew that I couldn’t allow my selfish desires to hinder what the Lord had planned for me.
I have been praying for you both and know that you are great parents. I am excited to meet sweet little Jack and know that he will be a continued blessing in your lives. I love your family and think of you often, even though we are thousands of miles apart :).
Also, today is one of my best friends’ birthday. Ashley, (A Wells), has been a part of my life since pre-school. We grew up together and were fortunate enough to attend Texas A&M together as well. Ash: I hope that your move to San Antonio went well and you are enjoying it. Love you and miss you! Happy birthday!
To my friends that just began a new school year, good luck :). Most of my close friends are teachers, which makes for entertaining conversations at dinners. So, a shout-out to you guys for being so awesome and pouring love into so many children’s lives. Katy and Hali are returning to their previous schools, while Shelly and Katie are beginning the year in new districts. Cassie and Lindsey are beginning their first year of teaching, which will be amazing :). My former co-workers, Annie and Lindsey are also beginning in new districts. Susan and Summer, love on the kids in Hearne for me…I miss them!
Hopefully I didn’t leave anyone out…know that I’m praying for each of you and know that God will use you in great ways. Love you all!
