Pre-warning: This post may make you not want to read what I write…but it’s the truth!
I wrote about the fact that God has been teaching me about the importance of seizing the day. We adopted a song as our anthem for P-Squad during launch week, which is actually called “Anthem” by Jake Hamilton…original I know :). This song is the hope that I have for my generation.
I think that we talk about doing a lot of great things, but realistically never do them. Eventually, someone has to light a fire under the young people in the world to make a change. Is it easy? No, not at all. Is it easier said than done? Absolutely. But, I have faith that my generation will be the generation that is going to finally “get it”.
When will we get that life isn’t all about the kind of car we drive or the amount of income we have? Get that in America we tend to think that even when we have an excess amount of things, we still “need” more…when actually we just want more and could live off of a lot less. Please realize that I’m grateful to be from America and am thankful for the blessed life that most of us live, but that doesn’t give us an excuse to ignore the rest of the world, or even the people in our own country that struggle with poverty.
Most of the time we get upset about not having enough clothes, when in reality the rest of the world wears the same few shirts and pair of jeans for their entire childhood. It’s great to know all of this…but what will we do about it? Sometimes people that truly try to live like Jesus and help people are viewed as “radical”, when realistically it’s the rest of us that aren’t getting a grasp on the true meaning of loving people through Christ. Will we say oh, well that’s sad that half of the world is literally starving, living in ameoba infested dirt houses, and dying from infections that could be cured with the right medicine, or will we begin to take to heart the verse in Matthew that says “whatever you have done to the least of these, you have done to Me”? It’s time to stop talking about it…and actually do something!
I can hear the footsteps of my King
I can hear his heartbeat beckoning
In my darkness, He has set me free
Now I hear the spirit calling me
He’s calling wake up child
It’s your turn to shine
You were born for such a time as this
Such a time as this
I can hear a holy rumbling
Loosing chains and breaking down the walls.
I want to hear the Father when he calls.
He’s calling
Wake up child
It’s your turn to shine
You were born
for such a time as this
This is the anthem
of our generation,
Here we are God
Shake our nation
All we need is your love
You captivate me.
I am royalty
I have destiny
I have been set free
I’m gonna shake history
I’m gonna change the world!
