Romania is located in Central Europe (for those of you that already knew that, good job…my geography skills are a little lacking so I’ll also help others out that struggle in that area). The Romanian Tourism website describes Romanians as being “among the most friendliest and most hospitable people on earth”, which makes me very happy….maybe they will be like Texans :). The language of Romania is Romanian (tricky I know haha), and the predominant religion is Christianity. They celebrate a holiday called Rusaliile (Pentecost) 50 days after Easter, in celebration of the descent of the Holy Spirit. We will be leading a sports camp in Romania and building relationships with gypsies. I’m excited about the culture and seemingly free-spirited nature of Romania :).
