Overall, Romania was a great place to transition into life abroad for the next 10 months.  I was able to reflect on my life and the journey that I was beginning. Spending one month in the same place is a new and exciting way for me to travel and serve.
Throughout the month we went to remarkable church services.  At Romi’s church I witnessed a breath-taking choir.  It felt like I was sitting in the front row of the Sydney Opera house.  The service was filled with excitement and enthusiasm even though it lasted 3 hours.  That same evening we attended Doro’s church where, half of the churches attendees where involved with the mandolin band. While they were playing everything taking place around me culminated into a perfect moment. Suddenly I was a peace and I knew there was no other place in the world that I would rather be.  It was a perfect travel moment that words can’t accurately describe.  The only feeling that comes close is skiing on a powder day when the only thing that matters is the next face shot.
At the camp I was able to interact and establish a valuable relationship with Michael. (The full time caretaker of the camp) Over the course of 3 weeks we were able to cultivate a friendship that under normal circumstances would take 3 years to establish. He was very generous and every day food would seemingly come out of nowhere.  We would never go hungry thanks to the “black hole”.
As the days went by at the camp everything began to mesh together and it became hard to distinguish one day from the next.  What we were doing became routine and that’s when I knew it was time to move on.  As we headed to the train station tears came to Michael’s eyes.  That’s when it struck me; our first month was not about sanding a cabin. It was about creating a friendship with one of the most generous individuals that I had ever met.

P.S. sorry about the delay I am currently about 2 weeks behind on bogging. As of 10/15 I am in Ocnita Moldova. (It’s the northernmost part of Moldova on the boarder of Ukraine) It looks like we will be working with kids the next month. I will let everyone know the details as soon as I know them.
