First of all, let me start off with an apology. I am not a
writer. I try to write eloquent stories and motivating speeches but they come
off as boring and unoriginal (two things I despise). I am much better in person. I’m a storyteller. When
I tell a story, I want people to feel like there where there. I get very
animated and excited and edit the story in response to people’s reactions.
These skills, however useful, do not translate well to writing. With that being said, this whole blog thing
is a little intimidating for me but here goes nothing.

A little bit about me.  My name is Sinamon (like the spice) Meyer
(like the hot dog). I know you’re probably thinking “Who names their kid that
and why spell it that way?” Answer:  My
mother, because she loves to be unique. A trait that she passed down to the
daughter she bestowed this uncommon name upon.  Growing up with an unusual name was difficult
at times but now that I’ve gotten older I realize how much it suits me.

 I am the Director of
Youth Ministries at a median size church right outside of Columbus, GA. I love
my job, my church family and most importantly my youth group… they are my
sounding board, my best friends, my biggest supporters and an unexpected source
of many important lessons I have learned in the past two years. Telling them
I’m leaving was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.

A little bit MORE about me:

If you flip my name around it spells “No man is”.

I have an addiction to shoes and cleaning out my ears. Both
seem to get me into a lot of trouble.

 I procrastinate… a
lot. Example: Right now I’m supposed to be working on stuff for summer camp.

I love marshmallow fluff. I could eat my weight in that
stuff.

I sew, crochet and knit in preparation for retirement (I
guess that means I don’t procrastinate about everything).

I tend to exaggerate.

I get a shopper’s high when I find/buy something on sale.

I love to laugh and hate to cry.

I believe that one person can make a difference.

I find that a song can better relate to my emotions at times
than a friend.

My favorite food is candy.

I don’t have a favorite color but I do prefer some to
others.

I’m a horrible speller.

 I can never remember
people’s names.

My mother taught me to love and admire unique and unusual
things.

My car smells like crayons and after much deliberation I’ve
decided to quit trying to change that fact and just embrace it.

I have thirty-three teeth so if you need a tooth transplant…
I’m your girl.

I like Tracy Chapman and Jewel because they have freakishly
low singing voices.

 I collect souvenir
pennies. I even have a “Penny Passport” that I keep them in.

I love the Atlanta Braves, even though we haven’t won a
World Series since 1995. I feel like this could be our year. (I say that every
year, FYI, one year I’m bound to be right.)

I inherited my grandmother’s mink coat when she died and I
really like it but I can never find the right occasion to wear it. So sometimes
I just put it on and walk around the house.

I am a constant work in progress…

“Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace,
Taking, as He did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it
Trusting that He will make all things right,
If I surrender to His will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with Him forever in the next.”
