So, we’ve been in Albania for about a week and a half. On one hand, it feels like we got here yesterday. But on the other, it’s quite remarkable how quickly we as humans can settle in. It kind of feels like this is just normal life. I do miss home, but a part of me already feels like my squad is my family and this is all normal.
Our daily schedule has been fairly consistent. We get up, eat breakfast, and then hear a message from our host, George. These messages range in length from 30 minutes to 2 hours, but have all been inspiring and fulfilling. After this we work until lunch time. For most days, my team has been assigned to lime washing the pens where the farm animals are kept. It certainly isn’t glamorous work, but it does feel good to be able to see what we’ve accomplished at the end of each day. After lunch we are free until dinner, and then free after that. This time is usually spent walking to town, going to the beach, or just relaxing at the camp. I have successfully taught Euchre to several people, and we play all the time.
On Sunday we went to a town called Skroder, where we visited a castle and walked around downtown. the view from the castle, which I attached a picture of, was incredible. I can’t help but be in awe of how blessed I have been to be able to come here. I can’t wait to move to our more permanent ministry sight with just my team next week. But until then, I plan to keep enjoying this time with the whole squad, and keep seeking God in all I do. God bless!
