Ok, um, training camp is over. I just took a real shower, like with running water. It was heavenly. This morning I ate breakfast, and didn’t have to split it with 8 people. Last night I slept in a real bed. All of these things are luxuries that I did not have at training camp. Not going to lie: training camp was one of the hardest weeks (10 days) of my life. I was pushed to my limit physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I started training camp with 50 strangers, and ended with 50 of my closest friends: F squad (freak squad). I started training camp with a nervousness about World Race, and left completely energized and excited. I love my team: The Edge. Our mission and vision is to push the limits of what a “missionary” can be. We found that through the team formation process, we had an instant connection and harmony. I could not be happier to have them as my family for this adventure.
Something about the 95 degree temperatures, the 80 percent humidity, and the red dirt just changes you. I can now honestly say that I can’t wait until launch, when I will see my new family again. Only 47 days!
