During our last transition from Thailand to Cambodia, our squad went through some team changes. I wanted to send out a brief blog updating everyone on my “new” team. Unlike many of the other teams, our team really did not change a whole lot. One of our former teammate, Katie Hines, was switched to a new all girls team, and we welcomed Ryan Hughes to our team. Being that I was the only guy, I am very thankful and excited to have Ryan on our team. I got to spend that last month with Ryan during our “Man-istry” month, where we were able to start getting to know each other. I am really looking forward to the new dynamic that Ryan will bring to our team as well as having a brother to challenge and push me in my walk with Christ.
Also, with the team switches, everyone also chose new names as well. Our new team name is Surge 12:9.
Surge: A strong, wavelike, forward movement, rush, or sweep.
We truly desire a forward movement in each of our own lives as we pursue God an see Him move in us in new ways. Furthermore, long to see God’s power surge through us, to completely overwhelm and overtake us. The 12:9 comes from 2 Corinthians 12:9, where Paul writes:
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
I know that on my own strength, everything I do is futile… if anything, I will screw it up. Yet, I know that in my weakness, as hard as it is to be open and allow God to work through those areas, He can truly use me and do great an mighty things.
Please be keeping our new team in your prayers!
