Today was my last day of substitute teaching and I am very excited to be done! I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to work with middle school students over the last few years and I have learned many lessons that I will take with me. Despite what seemed to be the daily abuse I received from these kids, my eyes have been opened to so much pain and hardship that the students in my district go through on a regular basis… dealing with broken/dysfunctional families, drug and alcohol abuse, as well as many other issues. As I leave, I can only hope that somehow I have impacted these kids in a positive way.
I leave tonight for Ecuador where I will be in one of my close friend’s wedding. I have never been to South America and I cannot wait to experience and see new things as well as be there to support and celebrate with my friend on such an anticipated day. I will be there for just over a week and then returning to LA, where it seems as though my old construction boss might be able to give me work for the month I have left before training camp. This is a huge answer to prayer as I knew that it would be difficult to find work for merely a month’s time.
On a different note, I cannot thank everyone enough for helping to meet the goal of raising $2500 in support last month! How awesome was that! It was amazing to see God work through everyone and reminding me how I need to trust Him. With a week left, I still needed $900 and I had slowly given up hope… however literally in the last three days of the month, all of the money came through. It is a good reminder to me to never put God in a box and to allow Him the space to move and work in my life.
Support Update: Currently I am at $5,379.75… 38% of the total support needed! AIM just gave us our next deadline of reaching $7000 by July 14th and $8500 before August 18th. Please pray that these deadlines will be met as it is required in order to head out in September.
