"Get on the train, go to sleep, and wake up in Sofia Bulgaria"
That's what we were told was supposed to happen. That is exactly opposite of what happened! We got on the train like we were told, I fell asleep like I was told and around 1am we were kicked off the train at some little tiny train stop in the middle of no where Serbia!
Apparently the train we were on was headed to Macedonia! So here we were waiting to find out what our next move would be! Sitting where no one speaks any English and no one is able to help us, God showed up! Out of no where a guy who spoke perfect English showed up and helped us get tickets to the next train! 4 hours later we are on another train headed to Nis, Serbia!
We didn't have to wait long at this train station, we quickly boarded and off we were to the border of Serbia and Bulgaria! Little did we know the train tracks ended about 20 miles away from where we were supposed to be! But God showed up again and we were able to find a bus that took us right up to the border crossing! All 15 of us walked out of the Serbia border and through the Bulgaria border!
Upon walking through we found ourself in another unseen situation. Taxi's would not come all the way to the border. Our only option would be to walk to the nearest village which was 5 miles away! Instead of panicking we decided to start praying. As a group we all started praying that God would come through and get us where we needed to be! Seconds later one of the border patrol pulled our team leader aside and let her know that he wanted to help us. An hour later we were all packed into a bus and on our way to sofia!
It was so amazing to get to see God show up for us on so many different occasions! He proved to us that if we just have faith in him he will provide!
We are now in Brasov, Romania for a week of debrief! Can't wait to see what month 3 has in store for us!
