Here is a packing list that I recommend after being on the field for 6 months! This isn’t what I actually have; this would be my ideal pack based on the things I did or didn’t pack and the things I’ve learned.
BIG PACK
Tent (REI half dome)
Sleeping bag (ordered it off of amazon)
Pillow (thermarest medium size)
CLOTHES (packed in packing cubes):
1 pair of jeans
1 pair of “swishy” pants
1 maxi skirt (I wear this the most)
1 knee skirt
1 pair basket ball shorts
1 pair Nike running shorts (not in dresscode. Used for sleeping or lounging around the house)
1 tank knee length dress
2 nice short sleeve shirts
1 tee shirt (sleeping and wearing)
1 long sleeve shirt (hardly ever wear it but my route is hot)
3 tanks tops (thick straps)
1 regular bra
2 sports bras
7 pairs of socks
15 pairs of underwear (I only brought 7 and i wish I had brought more)
1 Patagonia fluffy sweater (came in CLUTCH. Won’t wear it often but highly recommend for the cold nights)
1 rain jacket
TOILETRIES
Contact solution
Face wash
Moisturizer
Bar soap
Wash cloth
Shampoo & conditioner (if your route starts in Africa I recommend bringing enough to last you the whole continent)
Cotton swabs
Razor
Make up: mascara, foundation, bronzer, blush, tweezers
BODY SPRAY!!!!
Sunscreen
Bug spray
Malaria/ibuprofen/Advil/Etc.
Essential oil (tea tree for skin, peppermint for motion sickness)
DAY PACK (things I don’t want to loose and things for travel)
Laptop/iPad (recommend something small and light like a MacAir, Chrome book, iPad, etc.)
Chargers & extra headphones
Water filter (I have a Camelback UV water purifier and it’s the best thing I’ve ever had)
Converter
Journal
Bible
Book
Pens
Deodorant
Toothbrush and toothpaste
Flannel (airplanes are cold)
Glasses
Year supply of contacts
Neck pillow (strapped on outside)
Speaker (comes in super handy)
Sleeping pad (i had a thermarest neoair single)
Sleeping bag liner
Passport photos
Thumb drive

Toilet Paper and or baby wipes
Extra pair of undies! Trust me.

Recommendations:
Purchase spotify premium
Diva cup!!! (If you don’t like the diva cup bring enough tampons for a year. Most countries only have pads)
Download movies onto your computer or hard-drive (you won’t have wifi when you want to watch a movie the most)
It sounds crazy but body spray is a life saver!!!
