Hola from Santa Domingo!

We are loving life here – and it has only been a week!  Here are some things we have already done:

Remember that time…
1. We went to a church to build a bathroom, waited for an hour and a half, and eventually went home?
2. We danced in a tropical rainstorm on the rooftop
3. We at macaroni and cheese with hotdogs
4. Or there was the time we sang 'karaoke' in church… ahhh… yea
5. We tasted delicious Dominican huevos rancheros
6. We drank Santa Domingo coffee and fresh blended guava juice
7. When I was Goliath, and Ashely was 'David' in front of a school of 100 children
8. When I suddenly had to learn how to improv being a guitar player for a church service (I am learning guitar very quickly, out of necessity!)
9. We sang "Is Es el dia, is es el dia… that the Lord has made, that the Lord has made!"
10.  We washed all our laundry in a green plastic tub and hung them up on the rooftop to dry
11.  We sang late night love songs on the rooftop with Juan, Alba, Ana Karen, and Adrian
12. When the teenage boys hissed at us at a school visit… (I think it was a flirtatious hiss, not the angry kind)
13. When I was so sweaty I couldn't sleep? (oh wait, that's every night! Oh well..)
14. We ate fresh mangoes and avocadoes… mmmmmmm!
15. We woke up early in the morning and got to pray over the city from a beautiful rooftop
16. When I learned how to translate money exchanges!
17. When our host (Juan) stopped at an INCREDIBLE ice cream truck where I had a delicious Dominican Raspberry popsicle stick
18. When we took a group trip to La Tienda (the supermarket) and went grocery shopping… that was interesting
19. When Ashley said, "Buenos Nachos!!" instead of "Buenos Noches!" to say goodnight (I laughed for a long time about that one)
20.  We took cold showers, but LOVE them because it is muy caliente (VERY hot) here!
