” You take me to the mountain

You take me to the depths

You take me to the fountain

When I have nothing left

You lift my head

You are all I need

You are strength

Never failing

You are all I seek

You alone

Are enough.”

-Dara Maclean

Through the circumstances of my life… through hard things, the Lord has taken the words of this song and made them my reality.  I could have never come to this conclusion on my own and I could have never come to it without pain and without hard, uncomfortable situations in my life.  Pain is never fun.  It is never something I desire… but the fruit from it, the intimacy with the Lord in it, is so sweet.

Its the dying as a seed does in the ground before it sprouts new life.  Something so great and long lasting sprouts from that short season of dying and being buried in the ground.

He is all I need.

He is all we need.

He is all anyone needs.

Sometimes we are tested like Abraham to sacrifice on the altar the one that that could rise up and overtake our love for the Lord.  There is life in our surrendering it to Him.  The Lord is faithful and good, be we can’t know that until we allow Him to take us through the desert places.  Through the dry and barren places as He leads us on to the place where we can find Rivers of Living Water.

Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self Control.

BUT we will never arrive here without the simple willingness to die to ourself and surrender our will to His.  If we will do this He is faithful to give us all of these things in abundance.

Then, with a peaceful heart we will be able to say of all the things in our lives, “Lord, if you ask me to give this up or if you take it from me You will give me strength in that day to endure it.  It won’t destroy me.  You are really all I want and all I need.  I can still have joy unending because knowing You is more than worth it.”  We can say this because through pain and suffering we have come to really believe that He is good and that we can trust Him. And we believe it in the depth of our soul.
