This month in Malaysia has involved homeschooling 4 adorable and awesome kids and teaching english in the evening at a community center. It has been a wonderful month of being able to love on the people in this area. Monday through Saturday we are really busy with ministry but Sundays are our day off and this week we decided to go caving. This is what we found…

We walked through town and across the railroad tracks

through a small village

and then began to climb up to the entrance.
The climb was quite steep and slippery and I'm sure it was pretty entertaining, watching me try to manuver my way up. It no secret that I'm sort of a wimp when it comes to climbing especially when its slippery or scary. So about half way up there was this one part that I didn't think I could conquer. Andrew and Courtney had already passed it and were waiting on me a few feet ahead. I had a momentary freak out and considered turning around but then I felt this stinging on the back of my legs. As I clung to the rope, I turned my head to see what it was, and I realized I was in the middle of a swarm of mosquitos (the most mosquitos I have ever seen) Then I really started to freak out but the mosquitos propelled me onward because that was the quickest way away from them

A few minutes later we arrive at the cave entrance hot, tired and itchy from all the mosquito bites. Turns out the entrance to the cave is a little tight. We had to slide in sideways and at one point I thought I got wedged in there, but I managed to keep my claustrophobia at bay!

Once we make it through the lemon squeezer we find this room awaiting us!

As we explored, I saw this butterfly. I also saw several other cave creatures and heard the distant sound of bats. So glad I didn't see any of those!

We also found so many fun little nooks and cranies to explore.

This particular one was fun until I had to climb in and out of it several times trying to set the timer on my camera just to get this picture. That girl in the middle left her head lamp on the first time! ooops. I have bruises on my kees as a reminder.

In all of our exploring that day we went up several steep slopes, only to realize we had to slide down on our butt and hands to keep from wiping out. Needless to say we were nasty at this point between the sweat and the dirt.

One more time through the lemon squeezer on the way out.

and back into daylight!

I think these faces say it all…
