The process has been slow. I felt God’s call. I said yes. But slowly, slowly I followed. I inched my way forward with so much hesitation. I heard go from God, but heard wait, stop, why, & don’t from so many other voices. I crept forward, stopping and looking back too many times. But now I commit myself to this. I commit myself to God’s plan. I commit myself to the people I will encounter. I commit myself to the countries I will be going to. I commit myself to my future community, my future team. I am in.
I sit here reflecting on this story in Mark:
“As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him. When he had gone a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat, preparing their nets. Without delay he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.” [Mark 1: 16-20].
This story is a call to be bold. This story is a story of complete abandonment to God. Through complete abandonment to God comes unrestrained joy and fullness and beauty.
