As time passes, I am in more and more need of prayer for myself and for my team that I will be traveling with. I know that the Lord answers prayer and I need an army of warriors ready to charge the gates of Heaven for the lives that my team has the opportunity to touch in our 9 months traveling the world. So without further delay, here is 10 Prayers I (AKA my team) Need:
- Pray for the World Race Gap Year Route 2 teams hearts that the Lord does a work in us, preparing us to be away from our families and friends and everything we know for 9 months. I ask that the Devil have no place in our lives and that we let no opposition distract us from our preparations for this adventure. Psalm 139:23-24 “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns. See if there is any offensive way in me; lead me in the everlasting way.”
- Pray for the countries that my team will enter that nothing but goodness would be shown to the people and that our travels in those countries would be safe and uninterrupted. Luke 2:14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to people He favors.”
- Pray that through the adversity we encounter, that our team will have strength only found through clinging to the Lord. Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, a helper who is always found in times of trouble.” 2 Corinthians 12:10 “So I take pleasure in weaknesses, insults, catastrophes, persecutions, and in pressures, because of Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
- Pray that our finances would be taken care of by our launch day (August 5th, 2016) and that the givers are blessed in abundance. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 “Remember this: The person who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the person who sows generously will also reap generously. Each person should do as he has decided in his heart- not reluctantly or out of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
- Pray that my team bond together well to be able to be vulnerable with each other and effectively do ministry. John 13:34-35 “I give you a new common: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you must also love one another. By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” 1 Corinthians 12:26 “So if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.”
- Pray that as we serve in the different countries, we do so with a humble and joyous heart. Mark 10:43-45 “On the contrary, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must be a slave to all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life- a ransom for many.” James 4:6, 10 “But He gives greater grace. Therefore He says: God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble….. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you.
- Pray that we could speak into sin and produce light in the darkness of peoples lives. Galatians 5:19-21 “Now the works of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, moral impurity, promiscuity, idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambitions, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and anything similar. I tell you about these things in advance- as I told you before- that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” John 1:5 “That light shines in the darkness, yet the darkness did not overcome it.”
- Pray that we remember that God is the one that will change hearts and it is His work that we are doing and that He was there before we got there and He will be there after we leave. Revelation 22:13 “I Am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”
- Pray that we remember to worship God for through everything and for everything. Psalm 63:3-4 “My lips will glorify You because Your faithful love is better than life. So I will praise you as long as I live; at Your name, I will lift up my hands.”
- Pray that we remember that God knows the plans that will happen and that God will take care of us and protect us. Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you” -this is the Lord’s declaration- “plans for your welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Psalm 91:4 “He will cover you with His feathers; you will take refuge under His wings. His faithfulness will be a protective shield.”
I know that these are prayers that you would think you should be praying for us while we are out on the field (for the most part) but the truth of evangelism and sharing the Gospel is if you are not doing it in your home (hometown, school, etc.) then you won’t do it across seas. Sharing the Gospel isn’t a one time thing. It is a lifestyle. It is a daily choice that a person must make: a day of laziness and selfishness or a day of making more of Jesus and less of yourself.
It’s a choice.
If you don’t do it at home, you won’t do it out there.
I love and appreciate all of you who are reading this and I want you to know that I think of you often and I am so incredibly excited that you have chosen to embark on this journey with me! Let’s get lost together!
