In about 48 hours I will be touching ground on a completely different continent. The anticipation for this trip reminds me a little of the anticipation of going on the Race. I really should be used to it by now, traveling to foreign countries, but the excitement and bits of nervousness remain.
Did I pack the right clothing?

What will I actually be doing every day for 2 weeks?
There’s so much hype surrounding this trip, will it measure up?
Will the Lord follow through on His purposes in us going?
Will He follow through on His purposes when I get back?
Will there be a market for me to buy African fabric?
Will my luggage get lost or will I have anything stolen?
God provided for this trip but will He provide our rent money?
How big will my cankles be when I touch down in Nairobi after a solid 36 hour travel day?
Worries, doubts, expectations, cankles. The sum of my thoughts currently. There is definitely enough positivity, and excitement, and hope to far outweigh any of the doubts but those thoughts are kind of the ones I want to focus on for a second. (Minus the cankles, let’s not go there.) When you sit down and take some of your worries captive, you usually find they don’t have much actual ground to stand on and are full of if’s and maybe’s. And if doubts and worries aren’t truth, where do you think they come from? Nowhere near the Lord, that’s for sure. So what do you think you’re going to gain from sitting down and taking yourself out of the game based solely on illusions and fleeting thoughts?
There are huge things that the Lord wants to involve you in and things He’s probably already whispered in your ear about but you’re letting thoughts hold you back. Tiny, little thoughts. I don’t blame you, I do it all the time. It’s so much easier to believe the bolded words running through our brains than the whispering Wind of faith and promise. Remember, faith is an assurance of things hoped for, a conviction of things not seen. It’s not faith if you can see it. The only thing that will determine if it was worth having faith in is the end result, the fulfillment, and you only get there by faith. So go ahead, take a step. It’s ok if you trip, at least you got somewhere.
Listen and go in faith.

Here we go.
