My breath feels cool and dry when compared to the air around me.
I go to bed sweating and I wake up sweating.
I teach English while sweating.
I’m glad I bought a pretty pink hand-held fan in Thailand.
Mosquitos have their way with me.
I have no bug spray.
The Cambodian countryside is never quiet.
Geckos chirping.
Dogs barking.
Roosters crowing.
Children yelling.
Music blairing.
Red ants love my feet.
Black ants love my everything.
Giant beetles fly at my head during team time.
Lizards stare at me from every wall.
It’s month 9 on the World Race, you think I’d be used to all this. Maybe I never will be.
And that’s ok. By God’s grace (and trial and error) I’ve determined that it’s not worth tapping out for a month.
Because then I’d miss….
One of my students asking me to tell her about Jesus.
A strict Buddhist letting us pray for healing over his hurt arm.
Planting rice with one of our students.
Sunset over the rice fields.
5:30am devotions in the hammock.
Celebrating a 16 year-olds birthday at school because his parents wouldn’t celebrate for him at home.
Buying fried sweet potatoes and bananas from the market.
Watching Grandma crochet Bible purses.
Seeing light bulbs go on in students’ minds as they learn a new word.
Awesome team times with my all-girls team.
Learning more about spiritual warfare.
The kid in my 5 year-old class that only draws his v’s and w’s upside down.
One of my students hugging me and saying “I love you
God doing work on me this month.
Fine God, I get the picture. The big picture.
